Hello, community! Despite the fact that traveling is almost impossible for Ukrainians at the moment due to our troublesome neighbor, the rest of the world continues to live its life. Whether we like it or not, it’s a fact worth acknowledging. Once you come to terms with this, you might remember some forgotten verticals, particularly – travel offers.

Today, let’s talk about how travel offers work, what they are, and whether you can earn from them. But before we dive in, let’s remind you that we also review other verticals. Recently, we covered financial offers and microfinance organizations (MFOs). We highly recommend checking it out!

What are Travel Offers?

Many might have completely forgotten about this vertical. There are two main reasons for this:

  • The niche significantly declined during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Currently, due to the military aggression by the neighboring country against Ukraine, many of our citizens either cannot travel abroad or leave for safety reasons rather than for leisure.

Travel offers are a part of affiliate marketing that features tourism-related products such as ticket sales, tour packages, and more. Advertisers can range from hotel owners and airline representatives to ordinary intermediaries reselling plane tickets, for instance.

It’s worth noting that travel offers can overlap with other verticals. For example, travel insurance can appear both under travel offers and insurance offers.

How to Work with Travel Offers?

Before choosing a travel offer, you should know where to look for them.

No surprises here. Most travel offers can be found in affiliate networks. You might also find direct advertisers, but is it worth it? Probably not, especially if you plan to run ads through just a couple of Facebook accounts.

However, there are exceptions. For instance, if you want to drive traffic to hotels and hostels, you can work directly with platforms like Booking.com.

In other cases, thematic aggregators exist. Many of them are based in certain regions, but finding an international alternative is usually not a problem.

Once you connect to an offer, you unlock numerous opportunities for promotion. Below are some of the most common methods for promoting travel offers.

Native Advertising on Blogs

One of the most effective methods, especially in Western markets, is publishing travel articles on niche blogs. Anyone planning a trip often thoroughly researches others’ experiences in specific countries. Posting articles where you not only share your travel stories but also include referral links is a proven and working strategy.

If you’re feeling ambitious, you can create themed YouTube or TikTok channels. This way, you’ll generate relevant free traffic and monetize it by linking to travel offers. The content can be diverse, even AI-generated. The key is to stay relevant.

Targeted Advertising

Targeting is relevant for many niches, and travel offers are no exception. However, during peak demand periods, ad costs can be sky-high. This requires some strategic thinking: choose between tours and accommodations, aiming for the most budget-friendly yet profitable option.

Traffic should be directed to a landing page where users can create their “dream journey”: selecting a country, flight, accommodation – basically everything you can monetize. This means that besides well-set targeting, you’ll also need an excellent landing page for the combination to succeed.

Influencers

One of the most effective traffic sources for the travel vertical is influencers, particularly those creating travel content such as restaurant reviews in various countries and travel guides. There’s little to explain here; just think of notable bloggers like Ptushkin or Komarov.

Advertising with such bloggers is certainly not cheap. However, it’s one of the most efficient methods.

Advantages of Travel Offers

Should you abandon other verticals to focus solely on travel offers? Obviously not. The reason is simple – seasonality. No matter what, most people travel only during vacation seasons. Creating ad campaigns for a minority audience is not very profitable.

On the other hand, ignoring travel offers entirely isn’t wise either. Firstly, you can earn substantial commissions here, as some plane tickets can cost significantly more than mainstream products. Secondly, travel offers are highly diverse, allowing you to find niches with low competition and high payouts. This leaves ample room for creativity and experimentation.

Conclusions

Travel offers represent a vast niche with countless unique products. On one hand, this is exciting, as working with unusual products is always interesting. On the other hand, there’s a risk of running into losses, especially given the intense competition during peak seasons.

However, you can always find an underexplored niche that’s still profitable. For instance, while most focus on hotel traffic, you could target car rentals, a relevant and lucrative niche.

So, if you’re creative, this niche can definitely bring you profits. While we might not be able to travel fully, why not monetize others’ journeys? Why not indeed?
