Hello, community! Not long ago, OpenAI introduced us to the new version of their flagship product, ChatGPT, and now we have the chance to explore their new “toy” firsthand. Search GPT is a new search platform powered by GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer). What exactly is it, and does it hold any potential for affiliates? Let’s dive in.
Before we begin, let’s remind you that we’ve already done a detailed review of ChatGPT. We recommend checking it out, as it explains how this AI can simplify your work.
What is Search GPT?
Search GPT is not just a search engine but rather a platform built on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) neural network. Its key feature lies in its ability to process natural language input from users. Interaction with the neural network occurs through familiar text-based communication. You can ask it questions, request tasks, and more.
This is essentially how their new search platform works. It differs significantly from the traditional Google experience. For one, users receive more detailed information, as the neural network can generate several descriptions simultaneously. Each result includes its source, along with a description of the source’s credibility.
The standout feature is the ability to get more precise search results through interaction with the algorithm. Just like with ChatGPT, you can refine your queries. For instance, if you are searching for products in a store, you can ask, “Which of these can deliver my order today?” and the platform will adjust the results to show only stores capable of fast delivery.
At least, that’s how the platform is intended to function. Currently, it’s still in its early stages, and we don’t yet know the principles behind its search algorithm. This means we can’t be certain whether an optimized page will appear in its search results.
On the contrary, OpenAI is currently working in reverse: encouraging content creators and publishers to opt out of having their content used for AI training. If you choose to do so, your pages won’t appear in Search GPT’s results.
What are the prospects of Search GPT for affiliates?
Let’s talk about practical applications of this tool and whether we can find any at all.
Forget the slogans like “Search GPT is the fastest and easiest way to find what you’re looking for,” as advertised on its homepage. Let’s be honest: Google also provides information in seconds. So how much faster can it get?
On the other hand, Search GPT has the potential to deliver more relevant answers, eliminating unfair SEO practices where top search results are dominated by those who exploit the system rather than create quality content. This includes keyword spamming and generated content abuse.
For affiliates, the clear advantage might be the ability to quickly find useful information relevant to their work, such as analyzing GEO data or gathering insights on target audiences.
However, a significant number of users might adopt Search GPT if OpenAI integrates it with traditional search tools. For example, if you could type a query into your browser’s address bar and have it processed by Search GPT, that would be a game-changer.
If access is limited to OpenAI’s interface and costs $20 per month, it diminishes the likelihood of Search GPT becoming a viable traffic source for affiliate purposes.
Conclusion
At this stage, it’s too early to draw definitive conclusions about Search GPT. It seems unlikely to evolve into a major traffic source, which would be our primary interest. However, using it as a supplementary tool for quickly finding useful work-related information seems promising—especially if you’re already a Pro ChatGPT user.
From our perspective, the unique features of this tool include:
- Providing more detailed information upfront without needing to click links from search results;
- More relevant answers compared to Google, where SEO often takes precedence;
- An intriguing tool with potential to be quite useful for work in the future.
