Local traffic sources: how to cast cheaper and more efficiently

Hello, community! Many affiliates limit themselves on their own, creating artificial boundaries when it comes to choosing traffic sources. Of course, running traffic from Facebook or TikTok is mainstream — and the user volume there is massive. However, there are more niche, local, yet no less effective sources that definitely should not be ignored. That’s exactly what we’re going to talk about today.

Before we begin, let us remind you that not long ago we already talked about how to work with Tier-3 traffic. Highly recommended reading!

Non-obvious sources

Let’s start not with local ones, but with less obvious sources. You may have heard about them, but most likely ignored them all this time. To fix that, we’ll briefly go over these sources.

Microsoft Advertising

In fact, very few people realize that users still actively use Bing and Yahoo!. Moreover, these services are integrated into Windows. So potentially, we are talking about a huge layer of traffic that can easily be overlooked.

Microsoft Advertising allows you to buy ads on these services. Essentially, it is similar to Google search advertising. However, the key advantage here is more favorable bids for certain verticals.

It’s also important that Microsoft Advertising gives access to the US audience. So if you plan to work with this GEO but don’t know where to get traffic from — this ad network is definitely worth your attention.

In terms of mechanics, the platform is very user-friendly. There is even an option to import campaigns from Google. Reporting is highly detailed, so accessing any key statistics won’t be a problem.

EasyPlatform

Do you know where to buy Balkan traffic? Admit it, even the question itself sounds a bit unusual. Nevertheless, it’s still traffic that stacks very well with certain offers.

EasyPlatform is an ad network that allows you to buy traffic from more than a thousand websites covering Croatia, North Macedonia, and Bulgaria.

The network offers native and interactive ads. This format is great for generating a large number of clicks. So when paired with offers where conversions are relatively easy to achieve, traffic from EasyPlatform can generate solid profit.

Local sources

In fact, even EasyPlatform can be considered a local network. However, it covers several countries. We want to focus specifically on sources that work with traffic from a single country, as we find that more interesting. Let’s go!

Baidu

Baidu is the most popular search engine in China. You’ve definitely heard that the internet there is quite closed. Not like in North Korea, but still.

Baidu also has search advertising, which you can buy. It’s very similar to what we see in Google, so working with it is quite convenient. Yes, there is a language barrier, of course. But if you’ve decided to work with Chinese traffic, you’ll have to adapt to it anyway.

Baidu has an enormous amount of traffic — around 700 million unique visitors annually. Ads are shown not only in the search engine but also across other Baidu services, including local platform equivalents of Reddit and many other products that users interact with daily.

Seznam

Seznam is a network of Czech services that includes search engines, classified boards, and many other projects. Advertising across all of them can be managed from a single dashboard, which is very convenient.

Seznam also operates its own news portal, which is actively used by local users. Naturally, buying ads here is more cost-effective than targeting a broader European audience. However, from the very beginning, you should build funnels tailored specifically to this GEO and these sources.

Seznam is also visited by users from other parts of the Czech Republic and even neighboring Slovakia. Advertising here is easy, and the dashboard is also available in English.

However, to be able to work with traffic, you need to register your own company in the Czech Republic. This can be done online via the official website, so there’s no excessive bureaucracy involved.

Midas Network

Midas Network is a local ad network working with Croatian traffic. It covers more than 300 local websites where your ads will be displayed.

The potential audience reach is about six million users per month. However, it’s important to consider that Croatia is a resort country. In summer, traffic volume increases, but it also becomes less homogeneous.

For some products, this nuance doesn’t matter much, so just treat it as a minor consideration.

Midas Network offers deep targeting options, allowing you to segment audiences and receive only clean, relevant traffic for your offer. The ad format itself is native.

Qwant Advertising

Another large advertising network from France. First and foremost, it is designed for the search engine of the same name. How popular is it? Qwant generates over 4 million search queries daily. So if you plan to run traffic from France, this is a solid tool.

The ad format is similar to Google’s. You can buy ads through third-party platforms, but to work with Qwant directly, you’ll need to communicate with support via email.

This is easy to explain: the network is relatively new and has been actively developing its advertising products only over the past two years. Over time, this may change, making it even easier to drive traffic from France.

MOJ

TikTok is banned in India. However, the demand for short-form video content remains. While Instagram has partially filled this gap, TikTok’s absence also gave rise to projects like MOJ.

MOJ is a platform where users can watch and share short videos. It is a purely Indian service, so the audience here is highly relevant.

As for traffic volume, the platform hosts around 12 million creators monthly, with over 160 million users visiting every month.

What’s most interesting is that this is one of the few sources where you can get free traffic. Essentially, you can use the same techniques applied in TikTok affiliate marketing. However, local mentality must be taken into account to maximize profit from each view.

UOL

Finally, it’s worth mentioning UOL. It’s a network of projects that includes a search engine, news portal, and more. Advertising can be managed from a single dashboard, which is very convenient.

UOL is best suited for working with Brazilian traffic, but the network also operates across other Latin American regions. So if you plan to work with relatively inexpensive traffic, UOL definitely deserves your attention.

One interesting aspect is the wide variety of ad formats. You can even choose the pricing model: CPM, CPC, and others. This is quite rare for local projects. UOL stands out primarily due to the massive volume of traffic it generates. All you need is to select the right offer and start driving traffic profitably!

Conclusion

The list of local traffic sources could go on for a very long time. But the core idea is different: research each GEO more thoroughly. You may find platforms that generate huge volumes of local clicks at a fraction of the cost compared to Facebook or Google search advertising.

This doesn’t mean the traffic will be worse. Local ad networks often provide advanced targeting tools, allowing you to drive only the traffic you actually need. If you identify your target audience correctly, the result is pure profit. And considering that ads can be significantly cheaper than expected — this also means higher ROI that you wouldn’t achieve using mainstream sources.
