Affiliate Journalist — channel review from the owner of Affilista

Hello, dear community! Today we are reviewing a rather unusual channel for the Ukrainian segment, one that focuses not just on informational content, but primarily on insights from the industry.

The channel’s author is also the owner of a new service with advertising statistics for Ukrainian Telegram channels — Affilista. We cover all the features of Affiliate Journalist in more detail in our large review.

Channel name 📺  Affiliate Journalist
Author ✍️  Anonymous
Main topic 🗣  Affiliate marketing, insights
Year created 📆  11.03.2024
Number of subscribers at the moment 💁  3760

Who is the author of the Affiliate Journalist channel?

The Affiliate Journalist channel is anonymous. However, the description includes the admin’s contacts, for example, to discuss cooperation or other questions.

At the same time, if we talk about live content, you can see some faces there, although they are unlikely to be connected to the channel owner. We are talking about various video circles recorded during conferences.

What is the Affiliate Journalist channel about?

The main focus of the media outlet is on insights. In other words, information that is not available to the general public. At the same time, it can still be extremely useful when it comes to fresh tendencies and trends.

Let us move on to examples:

  1. Scams by affiliate programs. For example, that One Partners delayed payments to webmasters. By the way, almost immediately after the publication, the affiliate did receive the money. So here you can also trace the publication’s influence on Ukrainian affiliate marketing.
  1. Analytics on the performance of different ad networks and tools in general. One of the latest posts is about how Telegram Ads is developing and what numbers it is showing.
  2. But they also cover topics that are only indirectly related to affiliate marketing. For example, a potential romance between Kyrylo Dzykovskyi and a porn model.

You can also find guides on new tools, news, and so on. For example:

  1. Google Stitch test results. The editorial team shares its own impressions of a fresh neural network for vibe coding.
  2. Analytics of third-party cases. For example, a review of a thread about how more than $60k was saved on CRM development.
  3. News. One of the most relevant ones is about the shutdown of Sora.

Live content is also worth mentioning separately. As we noted above, from time to time you can see traditional “video circles” covering the course of conferences. However, they are only just starting to work in this direction. Whether this format will stick — we will see in the future.

Affilista — a project by Affiliate Journalist

To understand how deeply the channel’s author or authors are involved in the topic, you should pay attention to their second project. Namely — Affilista.

Affilista is a service that analyzes Ukrainian Telegram channels for advertising. Here you can find information both about how much advertising is being purchased and about specific budgets.

The information is truly insider-level and extremely useful for any affiliate. And it is very cool that you can get it through one free service.

Content depth and cases

Let us start with the main thing. Can all posts marked as “insights” really be considered insights? Of course not.

Some of these posts are simply analytics on recent topics. For example, if information about a potential scam or the shutdown of some project starts spreading somewhere, Affiliate Journalist summarizes this info, turns it into a post with screenshots, and shares its own conclusions.

This is definitely not a drawback. On the contrary, this format is extremely convenient for those who cannot follow dozens of channels, but still want to stay up to date.

As for the approach to content, you can notice an emphasis on facts. Screenshots are used as evidence, and sometimes there are a lot of them. As you can see in the screenshot:

This matches the spirit of journalism. So the channel’s name is fully justified.

As for case reviews, the information is presented in bullet points. Without overload. Only the key facts in list form. This allows you to get all the most important information in 20-30 seconds.

Who the Affiliate Journalist channel is not for

We did not find any long reads. So if you prefer long and detailed posts, you may have some issues with that here.

But this in no way devalues the work done by Affiliate Journalist. Because “a lot of text” ≠ higher informativeness. Even short publications can be extremely useful and exhaustive with the right approach. And the channel’s author clearly understands and practices this.

Content structure and navigation

The content structure is not uniform. In other words, it depends on what exactly is being discussed. You can see more or less classic posts, where the problem is presented first and then possible solutions follow. Sometimes it is simply something like a “summary.” For example:

  1. In the post about Telegram Ads results, they first use a chart with explanations as a visualization.
  2. Then they list the key changes and successes of the ad network in bullet points.

This template is extremely appropriate for the messenger format.

As for navigation, it is absent. Under key posts, you can find the hashtag #інсайди. Basically, users can only rely on search by this keyword. However, it is worth understanding that this way most of the content will be ignored. And that is a drawback.

How often new content appears

On average, new posts appear twice a day. But that is the average. Sometimes there may be three, or just one.

And here it is also important to emphasize that we are not talking only about thematic content. So this is not two or three insights per day, but posts in general. Sometimes it may simply be a meme, and sometimes it may be a repost from another public channel or just advertising.

The Affiliate Journalist channel community

At the time of writing our review, the channel had 3,760 subscribers. Comments are open. Discussions are not always very active. However, when truly relevant topics are raised, as in the screenshot, a few dozen comments still appear.

More importantly, this is a real audience. So if you want to discuss something, there will be people to do it with.

A Ukrainian live wire

We strongly support this channel also because it has the right thoughts and views. It is also against Russian advertising. But most importantly, it uses its journalistic qualities to make the affiliate market in Ukraine better, with less Russian influence.

One example is the investigation into Nutra Leads and its Russian origin. This is major work, where not only dry facts were collected. One interesting thing: this is one of the few cases where the long-read format was used. Because there was really a lot of information, and its importance is hard to overestimate.

However, the long read itself is still not published inside the messenger. The author only shares a link to the publication. But those are already technical details.

The investigation into Nutra Leads is not just a publication. It is work that continued afterward. For example, other influential community representatives were involved and given the opportunity to comment on this case.

As a result, the organizers of the “Affiliate CS” tournament refused sponsorship from this affiliate program. And you can read more about the entire market reaction in the post that summarizes all the consequences.

And the saddest thing about all this is that everyone very quickly forgot the results of this colossal work. Because “money does not smell.” And somehow most people no longer care that, in fact, it literally stinks. It stinks of the boots of Russian bastards. It stinks of the gunpowder of their shells falling on our heads. And it stinks of death itself.

Still, we want to emphasize this kind of work. Because society is extremely inert. And we sincerely believe that the more such investigations appear, the more we talk not only about certain projects belonging to the country of rot, but also about the potential consequences of cooperating with them, the more likely we are to eventually change public opinion for the better, at least a little.

Awareness starts with each of us. Let the inertia of the masses not become a reason to stop fighting. While someone is defending Ukraine with weapons in their hands, lowering those same hands on the internet is simply shameful. So we thank this Ukrainian live wire for his work and look forward to the next investigations with even greater resonance!

Verdict

Affiliate Journalist definitely stands out from many other channels in the Ukrainian segment. Here, the focus is not on reposting current news that already quickly spreads across all affiliate marketing public channels.

Instead, the channel places greater emphasis on its own research. This includes analytics of different cases, reviews of fresh tools, and even timely warnings about potential scams.

In the latter case, these are not empty attacks. They are documented examples with screenshots and even a resolution. If we take the One Partners situation, after the publication, the affiliate did eventually receive the payment.

The channel’s advantages include:

  • Fresh and relevant information.
  • A fairly concise delivery style that saves subscribers’ time.
  • Diverse content. From insights to memes.

The drawbacks:

  • No navigation.
  • The channel’s author is unknown.

And although the last point is not exactly a drawback, some potential subscribers may feel a certain lack of trust because of it.

Instead, the channel will try to earn your trust through high-quality and verified information. And that is far more important than any personality!

With great respect, your Geek reviewer!
